I traveled the road from indie rocker to data rockstar
Along the way, I’ve proactively sought opportunities to use data and spreadsheets to make life easier. Click my stories below to learn how:
My band, Renshaw Davies, booked, promoted, and performed international tours. This took immense organization! I recorded communications with venues and bands, tracked finances, and compared gear purchases using Google Sheets
As an audiovisual technician at the New Orleans Convention Center, we began getting spikes in demand for gear that we were unprepared to provide. We fit together solutions with rented gear and what we had, but it added to the chaos of an already busy show. When we hit a slower period, I asked if I conduct inventory of our storage rooms to help inform our needs. I then looked over equipment orders from the past two years. With these two data sets, I was able to confidently make purchase recommendations for my supervisors
At mumms Software, we specialized in record keeping solutions for end of life care. I helped to generate leads by researching hospices and palliative care centers in target regions and logging my findings in Google Sheets
As store manager at Hollywood Lights, I was in charge of purchasing from the Portland, OR location. I didn't want to arbitrarily restock items just to have them sit on the shelves indefinitely. So I took the initiative to make projections using our sales history to determine what and how much we should buy, and what to charge for it
My love of problem solving led me to pursue a tech career, starting with development. I joined a job training program with Genesis10, where I learned to use SQL as a backend for applications. I soon realized data is where my true passion lies.
At Barnet Associates, I've had the opportunity to use Tableau to track payroll, Jitterbit for data integration, and SSMS to create queries. I'm learning new skills everyday and loving every moment
